Rift Gallery was established in 2005 by stone sculptor Mark Saxe (Governor’s Award recipient, 1946–2025) and potter Betsy Williams.
The intention from the beginning has been a calm, well-made environment featuring a carefully curated selection of work in various media - authentic pieces not commonly found elsewhere. The gallery sits within the dramatic rift valley, directly along a majestic canyon hike.
Next to the gallery are the stone yard and working studio, where world-class stone carving classes have been offered since 2001. Following Mark Saxe’s passing in 2025, the gallery and stone yard continue as an active working space shaped by his commitment to stone carving and teaching, influencing future generations.
