Marilyn has lived in the Embudo valley on the banks of the Rio Grande with her family, dogs and cats, for decades. Much of her artwork is inspired by the world outside -- the rivers, the rural and traditional places, farms, and backroads, and their own apple orchard. She may be found hiking, canoeing, fishing, exploring historic sites, plus travel across the US, with her interpretation of these experiences in her artwork. Though born and raised in Maryland, she graduated from the University of New Mexico with degrees in Art and Special Education. Her career was devoted to working in programs for people with disabilities.
